FILM SYNOPSIS

Maryam, a 55-year-old painter, is forced to leave Iran after the harsh crackdown on the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Years later, she returns to her childhood home and faces memories of her younger self and those difficult days.

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

Afshin Soufian is an Iranian filmmaker, editor, and documentary creator with a background in architecture. He began his career with editing short and feature films in independent Iranian cinema before transitioning to directing. His works focus on themes of identity, freedom, and social justice. Prior to Death Closes the Eyes, he directed Death is Dreaming and two documentaries. His latest film continues to explore deeply human and politically charged narratives.
