FILM SYNOPSIS

After losing his job, a grieving man must decide whether to play it safe or take a risk and reignite something from his past he abandoned.

Casey, a 28-year-old man grieving the recent death of his estranged father, is laid off from his mundane white-collar job. In this introspective drama, Casey finds himself at a career crossroads while dealing with his overbearing sister and the unwanted belongings he inherited from his father. As he navigates grief and questions the direction of his life, he must ultimately choose between pursuing a safe and familiar path or embracing an uncertain one that could be more fulfilling.

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

Jio Williams is a Philippine-born New Zealand filmmaker. He has a background primarily in post-production, but in recent years he has revisited his passion for writing and directing. In 2021, he was accepted into New Zealand’s screenwriting mentorship programme, South Shorts, where he further developed The Creature’s Coda, his first written and directed project in over 10 years. The film was selected for and screened at the Cobb International Film Festival and the Silver Chance Film Festival where it won Best Narrative Short. Currently, Jio continues to craft new ideas and strengthen his voice as a filmmaker.
