Erica Ostlander

My name is Erica Ostlander, a final-year student pursuing a degree in Sustainable Development and Film Studies at the University of St Andrews. Over the past two years, I have proudly served as co-director of the St Andrews Green Film Festival, dedicated to advancing sustainability awareness through a diverse program featuring both fiction and documentary films.

Previously, I worked as a film curator for the SANDS: International Film Festival during its inaugural year in 2022, playing a pivotal role in curating a rich program of international films under the overarching theme of New Beginnings. Furthermore, my academic focus lies in film materiality and experimental filmmaking, where I hope to bring attention to often invisible aspects of the filmmaking process. I am excited to bring my experiences to the Starling Short Film Festival, contributing to the creation of an engaging and vibrant program!
